About the Films

The video has taken two years to
make and runs for 1 hour, 34
minutes. The videos show Kata,
which are a form or pattern of
pre-conceived movements,
representing defences and
counter-attacks.

There are fifteen Kata available, each one being filmed from three directions:

  • Slow speed, 45 degrees, from the right-hand side
  • Fast speed, 45 degrees, from the left-hand side
  • Slow speed, from behind

These directions cover every movement performed, and also give an indication of the speed of movement, the breathing control, and the focus of energy. To aid a deeper understanding of the pattern of movement, each kata also features an embusen displayed on-screen.
